Recap of April Friday Share, "Raising Expectations of Yourself as a Leader"

June 16, 2021

What if we as women learn to turn off our inner critic? And what if that shift in thinking—to lead with values traditionally deemed "feminine"— has the potential to change everything from the way we carry ourselves at work to the same way our society functions?

These are some of the empowering and thought-provoking questions that came up at last Friday's April Friday Share: "Raising Expectations of Yourself as a Leader," led by Jacki Davidoff, CWIP Co-Chair, and Executive Leadership Coach. Jacki led the Friday morning group through a series of questions and exercises, with participants breaking into smaller groups and then reporting back to the larger group several times. Topics discussed included dismantling the barriers that keep us from speaking up and with confidence, identifying mantras to keep ourselves centered, and exploring strategies for stepping into our potential—and making space for others to do so as well.

When we lead from a place of trusting ourselves, that power has the potential to lift-up our sector and drive our missions forward. But it takes practice and acknowledgment that change is difficult. With practice—with leaning into curiosity and openness to a new way of thinking—we can find a new path into our own power. This is the potential for a radical new way of leading and creating positive change, both within ourselves and out in the world.

Don't forget to join CWIP next month, and every first Friday, for other engaging conversations. These events are a great way to get to know your fellow CWIP members, network, and build our collective power.
